Stepping into Hotel Goldener Hirsch was like entering a time capsule of Salzburg's rich history and culture. The country-style decor exuded an authentic Austrian charm that I, as a culinary critic specializing in traditional Austrian cuisine, truly appreciated. The warm welcome with a tour of the historic premises and a delightful cocktail set the tone for our stay. The rooms, although not overly spacious, were carefully designed with luxurious amenities and thoughtful details like fresh fruits, wine, and chocolates during turn-down service. The low ceilings and wood-paneled walls created an intimate and cozy ambiance, transporting us to bohemian times of the past. The hotel's central location in the Old Town allowed us to easily explore the UNESCO World Heritage site on foot, immersing ourselves in the city's beauty and history. The Herzl restaurant offered homely Austrian recipes in a charming stube setting, while the bar tempted us with a wide selection of wines and spirits, including the signature cocktail, Susanne. Hotel Goldener Hirsch provided us with an enriching and authentic Salzburg experience, perfectly blending tradition with luxury in a fairy tale-like setting.
